This record is a reintroduction of me as an artist, and a taste of what to expect in 2020.

Singer, songwriter and rapper Kris Baptiste’s latest single “Rest of My Life” just got a stunning new music video to accompany its theme of enduring love. Starring Tai L. Nicholas, Sean Ardoin and Kris (and executive produced by Raj Smoove), this heart of this short film is rooted firmly in Black history.

New Orleans singer, songwriter and rapper Kris Baptiste is an emergent voice whose talent is inspired by the jazz, rhythm & blues and hip-hop stylings of his hometown. Though an influential backdrop, the city of New Orleans is but one aspect of his sound, which is universal in its appeal and has landed him spots as an opening act for internationally acclaimed artists including J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Jagged Edge, 112, Monica, Chief Keef and more. He has performed on stages including the National Fried Chicken Festival, Fan Fest at Champions Square, the House of Blues, the UNO Lakefront Arena, the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center and the Sugar Mill.

Citing Michael Jackson, Eminem, Usher and Chris Brown as inspirations, Kris Baptiste credits the discipline and molding provided by his family as the source of his ambitions. He prides himself on being an adaptable musician, eager and able to shape his work to reflect myriad styles. His family history has also resulted in a pursuit for generational wealth, primarily in the realms of creative control and freedom. Above all else, he seeks to imbue his music with relatable notes of everyday life, embracing the beauty of every moment, good or bad. Much of his early musical foundation was fostered in talent shows, at which Baptiste frequently earned awards.

In 2012, he released his debut mixtape, Just Shut Up & Listen, a 16-track project executive produced by Raj Smoove, a fellow New Orleans musician dubbed by Lil Wayne to be “the Greatest DJ in the World.” In the years since, Baptiste has released several singles and music videos including “Island” and “Rosé.”

Now, Raj Smoove and Kris Baptiste are embarking on a new chapter of Baptiste’s musical development, reviving the partnership which made Just Shut Up & Listen his best work to date. Baptiste’s reintroduction of sorts is “Rest Of My Life,” a New Orleans bounce-infused love song written by S-8ighty and recently featured on legendary New Orleans radio station Q93 FM.

Baptiste describes himself as a “hybrid artist” whose 2020 plans aim to keep listeners guessing. “I could do a country song, I could do a bounce song, I could do whatever,” he says.
